The odor is mildew

"I have to admit that I dismissed the previous review complaining about an odor. Partly due to the poor wording, and partly because it stood alone. Sadly, I need to support that review.

Once the house was shut up for the colder weather, my bedroom began smelling of mildew. The strength of the smell grew over time. Some days, I can smell it coming up the stairs. Following my nose leads me to the surfaces of each of the three pieces of furniture from this set (not the interior of any drawers). They each have a faint wiff of mildew. Apparently, it is enough to accumulate over time.

I have finished a lot of wood surfaces over the years, from furniture to room trim. I have never had a wood surface smell like mildew. These smells remind me of my days sailing old wooden boats. I don't know if the smell is from the wood itself, or if it is from the finish. One of my pieces came in its original shipping box, so it isn't from sitting out open in a Macy's warehouse.

If the smell ever goes away, the furniture will be well liked. However, I suspect that the odor will continue to grow as it has over the past two months. Here's hoping that Spring comes early!"

Georgeous Bedroom Set

"After looking at many bedroom sets and not being impressed with any, we finally found this set. It was delivered in May and we could not be more pleased with the quality and workmanship of this set. Many of our friends and family have asked where they could get a set like this. The little things like the lined drawers and the bottom cedar in the dresser drawers as well as the whisper closeing drawers on all pieces is very impressive. A truly Great Set made from Hardwood!"

"The picture in the ads and on-line do not represent the real beauty of this furniture set. The color is so rich and much darker. I had a few issues with the dresser drawers but called Macys and a technician came out and fixed the problems. The furniture is solid and well made. I am very pleased with my purchase."

"I just received my Gramercy Bedroom Set and I LOVE it! Quality furniture, solid and sturdy, with clean lines. The wait for delivery was 2 months but, well worth it and the 5 star delivery service was great! I had shopped around for a bedroom sets in the local stores and was very unhappy with what was available in Full size; this set ROCKS!"

"I bought this bed in May 2012, and it looked beautiful. However, the ordor was very annoying. It has been almost three months but the ordor is still irritating. I would definitely return this bed if I could."

"I purchased Gramercy after finding it on this website and going to view it in the store. It met all my desired qualities and functionality. I love the felt lining on the top drawers and cedar in the bottom drawers of the dresser. The drawers close smoothly. "I have enjoyed having the Gramercy bedroom set in my home for the last four months. I love everything about it! The richness of the color, the perfect height of the sleigh bed, and the self closing drawers. After years of frustrating furniture shopping, I saw this set and knew it was the one for me. Solid wood furniture

"This furniture is not only beautiful, it's also very solid. I have no doubts that this it will last many, many years, and the classic design won't ever go out of style. Also, the whisper close drawers and media features are nice touches.

While the style is classic, the actual furniture has very modern features. The nightstand comes with a power strip on the back, so you can easily plug in your phone charger/lamp/alarm clock. Also, the dresser's top middle drawer’s front panel slides down, so a cable box or dvd player can be placed inside. I'd highly recommend this furniture to anyone."

She Finally Met Her Match
