Does the job, but not worth the price

"This vacuum is a great concept, like the old dustbuster on steroids. But while a good concept, it lacks usability.
Pros: lightweight, and good suction. Great unit for use in the car or small cleaning in the house.
Cons: To operate, one must hold the power button down, rather than just an on/off switch. The handle is very uncomfortable. As a guy, I find my hand tires quickly using this.
The canister is messy to clean out, and the whole thing needs to be disassembled each use just to get the dust out.
The power brush seems to stop too easily when vacuuming short pile rug. And the 10 minutes of use between charges is disappointing.
The vacuum head is smaller than I expected.

Overall, it's a great machine for spot cleaning - a quick tidy here and there - but has much room for improvement. At $100 or $150, it would be worthwhile, but it is dramatically overpriced for the limited machine it is. I like it, but it's just not worth the price."

"A great performing tool. I find the handle very uncomfortable. It should have a switch that stays on while in use. It is hard on the hand to hold the switch all the time it is in use. Obviously not designed by a woman."

"I bought this Dyson digital slim cordless vacuum to replace a Shark handheld that had neither the power nor battery life for my needs.
The Dyson is great! I am very happy with it; it has a lot of power and does a great job picking up the dog hair and crumbs from the area rugs and the carpets by entryways and sliders. I use it for quick pickups and touchups in between my regular vacuuming with a corded vacuum. It stores away easily in the included charger/hanger which I have wall-mounted in my laundry room.

If you are looking for something for quick pick-up jobs instead of dragging out the big vacuum, this is an excellent choice."

"The most amazing vacuum. Does not lose suction. The only drawback is the charge capacity. You can vacuum for about 10-11 min and then it dies and to recharge it takes several hours. If you have a large enough house, this can get annoying."

Small but powerful

"This is the only vacuum I own and it works perfectly. Strong suction, versatile attachments, gets into the small spaces. Can lift to get any cobwebs or dust. Top snaps off and makes a perfect dust buster for the stairs. Love that the entire thing is cordless, makes my life so much easier, and makes me want to vacuum more often! My whole apartment is carpet and I use it everywhere. Only downside is that the charge only lasts 6 minutes. But it's a long 6 minutes and easily plugs into charger. Love the wall mount feature but haven't used it yet. Seeing as how I don't vacuum the whole house at one time, it works perfectly for me and don't think I'll need another vacuum for a long time."

"My husband and I got this from our wedding registry. We have a 1200 sq ft wood floor condo with a dog (doesn't shed much). Our cleaning needs are minimal so this seemed like a practical every-day type vacuum.

I was very disappointed when the vacuum would (1) Die/lose charge after no more than 10-15 minutes, requiring a re-charge, (2) Requires constantly holding down the power button, as opposed to an on/off button, and (3) After only 6 months, now shuts off every 5-10 seconds while mid-vacuuming, where I have to stop and re-start the process every couple of feet. Annoyed.

Returned for store credit today."

A great purchase

"I wasn't sure when I purchased this vacuum if it was something I necessarily needed, but I had seen the television commercial and was impressed with it's functionality. This vacuum is simply one of the best purchases I have made. I already have a Dyson, so I am a bit of a fan already. This vacuum is everything you need for in-between cleaning. Although the charge on the max setting is only for 6 minutes (mine is closer to 8) this is all you will need for what you need to do. It is cordless, so it is perfect for touch ups and little messes (plant spills, dog tracking in dirt, etc.) However, it has a decently long cord if you would like to keep it plugged in and do your work in small circles. It has the same power and efficiency as my larger Dyson, but allows me to do stairs, corners, under the couch, etc without lugging it all around the house. It has made it easy to give the house a quick once over before work. I don't know how it would be as a primary vacuum, but I imagine for an apartment or smaller home it would be perfect."

"I love my Dyson cordless vacuum. It's just the perfect size for my 1,200 sq. ft. condo. I have a dog that sheds quite a lot so I'm using it everyday. Can't believe the suction power. I especially like not worry about a cord. I have some back and hip issues that a regular vacuum cause it to flare up. But because this one is so light I have absolutely no problems. I have told all my friends about the Dyson DC35 and I'm sure they will be getting one too! Thank DYSON!!!!"

"Love it. We have wood floors throughout our whole first floor.
I always knew we needed some sort of suction to keep them truly clean. Started out with a cordless that initially was okay,but as time progressed I could tell it wasn't suctioning as well (no matter how well I cleaned the vaccum itself). Then Dyson invented this!!!! I already have a Dyson Ball Animal, which I love, so this was a no brainer. This is Marveless. Great power, and the rolling head moves effortlessly. Really like the long extension, as I can pop off the foot and reach high places with ease. I overlook the porice as by-going a maid service for a couple of sessions (If I were to do that). Dyson quality well orth the money."

"Hardwood floors and Florida sand=constant sweeping!

Sweep no more! This vacumm is the best investment I have made. I have tried many hand held vacumms and am always disappointed. Wish I would have just saved my money over the years and just invested in this one the first time! (great on dust bunnys as well)
It works great on stairs. Really easy to just remove the extension and use it as a handheld vacumm with the beater bar. Much faster and easier than any broom or handvac! Its all about having good tools! LOVE IT!"

"I absolutely just love this Dyson! I haven't pulled my canister vac out of my closet since i bought it. I do wish that the battery lasted longer though and it would be nice if you didn't have to hold in the power button in order to make it work (it would be nice if they would design it to stay on.) It would be hard to use for someone who had arthritis in their hands.
Overall though i am extremely please with my purchase."

"I read reviews, researched and finally jumped in and bought my Dyson Sliim Vac and I have vacuumed every day since. With 2 long haired cats it felt like a losing battle until my Dyson came into the picture. It's so easy to manuever I can get into almost any crevice and I am continually amazed at how much stuff it picks up.
The charge has always seemed sufficient, even when using the 'high' button at times. The cat hair does get caught in the rotating brush, I don't llike getting it untangled but it's really pretty darn easy and worth the bit of maintenance."
