"I bought these as a set to start off our new home as we wanted a delicate white China set but couldn't really afford the high end brands. The set is outstanding in terms of its delicate whiteness and lightness of the dishes. Comparable to any of the luxury name brands. We are now using these dishes as our daily set and is holding out well. It is sturdy and they all go into the dishwasher daily. I am very happy with them. My only problem with them is trying to find additional serving dishes or other additions that we may need in case of breakage or update and these are not available. I have though added from the Macy's Hotel Collection china set several of the serving bowls and platters and they match completely. Overall a great starter set to buy and am hoping to look after them well so that they last me a long time."

"It is so elegant and looks like fine china. Makes my table look so beautiful. I purchased two sets to replace my old Mikasa dishes. I absolutely love them. We use them every day and haven't had any problems. They wash up so nice in the dishwasher. They are not too light in weight nor are they heavy as ceramic. I accidently hit one of the plates on my granite countertops and it didn't chip or break. They feel and look expensive. You won't be dissapointed if you purchase them."

"I ordered two sets. I was happy to find that there were no broken, chipped or cracked dishes. They are light, but yet durable. I purchased them about a month ago. I really love them. I even heard my 18 year old daughter say," I love these dishes, they make me want to wash them and put them in the dishwasher." Mind you, she has never put anything in the dishwasher before. She is right, they are easy to clean, or rinse and put into the dishwasher. Good luck with your decision!"

"Coffee cups are very thin and seem easily breakable. Put cup in microwave for a few minutes and the cup itself is extremely hot to touch. But overall a good buy for the money."

Stains in the mugs after several months

"The set is simple and nice. I liked it very much when I first got it 8 months ago.I had been looking for bone china, and this says it is. However 2 months ago I noticed a stain in the bottom of one of the mugs. I think this only happens when the china is fired/baked/cured poorly. Yes I drink coffee. I was willing to deal with it as a fluke because writing and returning is such a pain. However a few weeks later another cup had similar stains! Now it is up to three stained mugs and I am very dissatisfied and concerned that bacteria is also trapped. So I will begin the return/exchange/ process...I had originally ordered the white Hotel Collection that looks so similar but the dinner plates would not fit in my dishwasher."

"Bought two of these sets in Spring 2010, and have been very happy with them. They're modern, classy, lightweight and just the right amount of translucent. We don't have a dishwasher, so I can't comment on their durability there. However, I'm pretty klutzy and rough with them, and we've had no chips unlike our last set. If I look closely they may have some fine scratches from our steak knives, but not noticeable. We've supplemented with the shallow soup and 'bing cherry' bowls, as well as several serving pieces from the Hotel collection, they match perfectly as if part of the same set.
Great way to have china without spending a fortune or having frilly designs."

"Beware....Finish on plates turn discolored and iridescent after numerous washing. Impossible to get off the plates. Is not caused by dishwasher since bottom of plates, the bowls and cups do not discolor. There is something wrong with the glaze used on top of plates and nothing will get it off. I have tried everything!

"I just got this set and washed it in the dishwasher to clean the dust off. When i took it out of the dishwasher i could tell that something was wrong with the dishes. Then i used the bowl and washed it by hand and it already has scratches on the bottom of the bowl. Mind you that i used it ONLY once. I will keep it and try to wash it like the other reviewer said with toothpasted but definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Very disappointed."

"My husband and I picked this out for our wedding registry because we wanted white dishes that we could use for formal and informal occasions. This set offered us the best deal because everything can in the box. We were college grads so we couldn't afford the higher end dishes and we knew our families couldn't either. It was bought for us by my god parents and has been the leading dishes in our home ever since. They're light but solid so you don;t have to worry about breakage. Plus they come with a lifetime breakage replacement program once you register the product online."

"I bought the Breckinridge set a year ago. Since then, the dishes have become coated with an iridescent sheen that Gorham says is the result of dishwashing detergent reacting with the finish. They recommend cleaning each dish with toothpaste or SoftScrub to get the ugly blotches off. I can tell you it's a very tedious process. They don't know which detergents are safe to use.

The dishes also scratch easily from utensils. They're beautiful, but this style is very common in other manufacturers' lines. Do yourself a favor and buy this restaurant style white dinnerware somewhere else."

"I am very happy with the shape and style of these dishes. White dishes always look beautiful on the table and with food. However, after putting them in the dishwasher a few times, they developed an iridescent 'sheen' on them. None of my other dishes have this sheen #not even my china# after having been in the dishwasher many more times. I use a mild 'green' detergent. So I really think it is the finish on the dishes."

Even More Gorgeous Than Expected... BUT

"Let me begin by saying that these are gorgeous and beautiful in every way. The shapes are exquisite. The sizes are not too generous, so they fit well in my shallow cabinets, and I don't end up eating too much. The thickness is right. The cups have a pleasant ring (meaning they're even and they sound good). I even don't mind the sound of a fork on the plates. The texture against your lips is very smooth (mugs). The color is that lovely, slightly translucent bone china white. When we received our set, four of the plates were deeply scratched. One scratch was about 1/32nd of an inch deep and about an inch long. These were significant scratches. I didn't want to wait to enjoy my dishes, however, since I'd already packed up my others. So, instead of returning them to Macy's, I instead contacted Gorham. Big mistake. Gorham (really Lenox) took 4 months to complete the replacement process with me. I was NOT happy. I had to contact them at least half a dozen times, and when I received my initial replacements, I was short one plate. That took another 6 weeks, and the first time they sent it, the package never arrived. Needless to say, I would never attempt to deal with Lenox/Gorham again for new purchases. I am still considering purchasing an additional service for 8, and if I do, and there are blemishes, I will promptly return them to Macy's, where the customer service has never given me a problem."

"I inherited my grandmother's china, therefore, knew I would not want to set up my bridal registry with another set of "formal" china. I also have a full collection of Fiestaware, so I was at a loss as to what else I could use for everyday dishes. A good friend recommended this set as she has 2 sets herself. I now have 2 sets and they are absolutely perfect. I use them right alongside both my Fiestaware and grandmother's antique china collection. The extremely classic design will never go out of style and they are durable and high quality. Very highly recommended!"
