"After reading previous reviews, I ordered 3 sets by mail. I needed only 2 as gifts, and I thought I will pick 2 of the best quality, and the third one will be returned. Well, there is only one necklace out of three which can be given as a gift. Other two need to go back - no luster, chipped pearls, circular marks from some sharp instrument. One of to-be-returned has a pearl shaped like a tooth! Never saw anything like this, would be great for a Halloween."

"These were on sale so I brought several on-line for Christmas gifts. Big mistake... they were of extremely poor quality: color, holes, luster, shape. I returned they all immediately. I originally bought one in the store and those were really nice. Thought I would get the same thing if I purchased on-line and turned out not to be the case as another reviewer warned. I would recommend seeing these in person at the store before you buy. Because these are real pearls, there is huge variation in quality so you have to check them out yourself. My thinking... regardless of how great the deal is, you have to love what you spend your hard-earned money on."

"I absolutely love these pearls. I worried about how they'd look on me. I'm no spring chicken. To my delight they look lovely. My daughter (27) asked to try them on and we all agreed it would be money well spent as it sat so beautifully on her neck. No problems putting it on by ourselves, it doesn't cross over. The luster is top notch. You can tell it's from the Fine jewelry department. These are so versatile. You seem to gain instant poise and stand taller to show off this perfect Double strand. "I have purchased 3 of these in the store today as gifts for Christmas(I know I shop early), they had 5 strands after reviewing all 5 strands 2 were un-purchasable due to chips in the front pearls and large pits and blemishes along the front strand, I notified the clerk on duty and besides looking embarrassed she took them off the display and packaged them to be sent back to the vender. This is due to the way they are packaged and shipped ins Ziploc backs all loose in a box... not the best way to package or store pearls, anyway the remaining three were very good luster

One was very nice with very few pits along any pearls one annoying one on the back of a front pearl but that is just poor stringing. The other two are nice matched color but have more blemished and almost no pits on them. I understand that Freshwater pearls will almost never be perfect and find that actually a good way to determine that they are real. the ones I purchased are great starter pearls for that processional just graduating or for a nice gift to round out the collection. They are a great price for non high end pearls, if you do your homework and actually look at these before you buy them or take full advantage of Macy's awesome return policy you and your gift recipient will be very happy.

Note: do not focus too much on the blemishes unless there are a ton of blemishes on the front, if there are more pits then 1 in 8 pearls drop the necklace, also do not buy any pearls with cracks or chips. And look at every pearl on the strand."

"Along the lines of what Stubener reports, I had the same problem. I bought these pearls for my daughter. The beads are quite large and due to their weight the cord broke at the clasp. My daughter and I went to Macy's in Orlando and even tho I bought them in Massachusetts the salesperson exchanged them for another identical necklace. She is an attorney and wears these pearls often. She has had no problem now for over a year and a half. I absolutely love Macy's and my daughter loves these pearls. The luster is fabulous. The color of the pearls is flawless and blemish free. I am buying them for myself now. A great addition to your
pearl wardrobe. Stubener, go back to the store and see the manager. 5 stars because of the quality of the pearls and Macy's superior customer relations."

"The clasp is poor. This was a gift. I was concerned about it.
Checked it out at the store after receiving it. My aunt gave it to me. I couldn't ask an 85 year old person for the receipt. The second time I wore it the clasp and string broke. The look was nice. Now I'm stuck with something unrepairable at the store."

"I consider myself somewhat of a pearl expert (and addict). I bought these with an attitude of "I can always return them." Let me say these are some of the best freshwater pearls I've ever seen or felt. In fact, I liked them so much - I bought another set as a gift! As with any real pearl(s), there are differences in color and hue. For example, my set was whiter than the gift set (which was a yellow hue). These are an incredible buy! I highly recommend this."
