"I decided to buy both the Calvin Klein Double Breasted Pea Coat and the Kenneth Cole Reaction Refined Wool Pea Coat in the Charcoal color so I could compare them and choose the one I liked best.
They are both beautiful, classic pea coats. I was looking for something long enough to wear with business suits, short enough to wear with jeans, and would flatter the figure.
Both have a similar cut, which curves in a bit at the waist, and are the same length, approx 29 – 29 ½ inches down the center back from the bottom of the collar. Approx 31 inches from the top of the collar. I’m 5’4”, size 6 and the length of these extend about 1 – 2 inches below my rear. Sleeve length is the same for both, I like my sleeves to go about 1-2 inches past my wrist line when my arms are hanging down at my sides and they both do.
Calvin Klein’s charcoal color is a very dark charcoal, closer to black. Kenneth Cole’s charcoal color is more of a true medium gray, darker than a heather gray but lighter than dark charcoal.
Calvin Klein is 65% wool, 20% nylon, 10% recycled cashmere, 5% other fabrics. 100% polyester lining. The pocket lining is really soft, feels like microsuede even though it’s not.
Kenneth Cole is 78% wool, 16% nylon, 6% polyester. 100% polyester lining. The pocket lining is the same as the inside jacket lining.
Pros for Calvin Klein: - The added cashmere makes the coat soft against the skin - doesn’t itch. - Lapels are made to close so there is a button at top under collar if you want to button up against the cold. - Two extra buttons included for replacing lost ones. - Smooth back.
Cons for Calvin Klein: - No inside pocket. - Darker gray may show specks of lint/dust a little more like black.
Pros of Kenneth Cole: - Higher wool content. - Inside pocket. - Nice belt/button detail on back. - Split back (if you prefer that style).
Cons for Kenneth Cole: - A little itchy on the skin. - Wide lapels are not made to close so does not have button under collar for buttoning up. - No extra buttons included.
I tried sitting in my car while wearing each coat and didn’t have any problem moving, grabbing the steering wheel, etc. The Calvin Klein did seem to afford a little more movement for me though.
I decided to go with the Calvin Klein for myself, the softer feel, color, and little bit more roominess in the arms/chest worked best for me.
Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with either of these coats."

"This is a classic pea coat and it will be perfect for our mild San Diego winters. It is well made and lined beautifully. I expected to pay a lot more money for this coat and was so surprised that it was so reasonably priced! This is a slightly-fitted coat and very slimming and comfortable. The wool/nylon/cashmere material is very soft to the touch. The pockets are lined with an almost flannel-like lining, not the usual satin-y polyester lining. The sleeve length is perfect for me and I almost always have trouble with sleeves being too long for me. I bought the charcoal which is a dark/deep gray which could be mistaken for black. Ladies, this is a keeper. You won't be sorry if you purchase it but you will be sorry if you don't."

"my husband got me this coat in red for christmas. I was impressed! The quality of the wool is really good and nicely made as well. It has 2 extra buttons inside to garantee a perfect fit. I'm 6 feet tall and had add one inch on the sleeves, there was just enough material to do it. (I've never been able to find a coat that required no modifications on the sleeves, it's my problem, not the coats.) The lengh of the coat itself is quite nice."

"I absolutely love this coat! I prefer the classic style, and wanted to look elegant, but also be warm during the winter. I was definitely right to buy this coat. "I absolutely love this coat - I bought it in black at the end of last year because after 5 years my old one finally needed to be replaced. I've used it regularly for 2 winters now and it still looks as great as the day I purchased it. It fits wonderfully, the wool is super soft, and it's a very warm weave of wool (I have a few other wool coats and for the price this is the best grade of them all - great over a thin shirt or the thickest sweater so no matter the weather it will keep you warm). Very classy looking, goes with anything...as far as pea coats go, double breasted is the only way to go. I definitely recommend it!"
