Rwanda "Allegory" Knitting Basket

The artisans of the Path to Peace project know, perhaps better than anyone, that handicraft is a social art. Emotional and communal bonds formed as the women weave together are as intricate, strong and beautiful as the stitches in their lovingly woven baskets. Each hand-woven blossom represents a story shared and a connection made, making the Allegory basket an ideal place to store your own projects - from knitting to needlepoint. Diameter 13" x 9" Height.

Awsome Allegory Knitting Basket, November 15, 2009
By Alive from Detroit, MI.

"I am a painter and art teacher interested in and working with fiber art as well. I love this basket and keep it in my bedroom filled with sewing materials .It holds everything I need to sew fabric dolls and is light enough to carry around and place next to me, anywhere in the house. The craftsmanship is excellent, perfectly balanced and the lid fits securely. It smells of fresh grass when you open it, reminding me of its origin and authenticity. I love my home to be full of original art.. I also give these different baskets as keepsake gifts. They seem to be really appreciated by the receiver."

Lovely and well made, October 16, 2009
By GeeGee12 from SF Bay, CA

"I love the Rwandan baskets! This one is really used for my knitting. The fibers used for weaving are still so fresh they impart a herby green aroma to the objects inside. The lid fits securely and the size is large enough for real storage of many hanks of yarn. It feels great to support women across the globe."
