"I have these towels in the green, white and beige. they look beautiful but after just one wash, there were a loooot of loose strings everywhere!! It makes the towels look very ugly and old. They aren't the prettiest thing to look at because of all the snags. If it wasnt for that, I'd really like the towels because they are big and absorb the water well. Unlike other reviewers, I've never had bleach stains because I always wash them separately."

"I bought my towels a year ago. They did fade, and I am disappointed because the undertones are showing through and it is a dank color compared to the vibrant Nile they once were. I have 2 towels that are decorative to compare the other four to. Also, I am very careful with my laundry and I have many threads that have snagged. I have never experienced this with other towels, so I am quite dissatisfied with that as well. I too read all the reviews prior to ordering the towels on line. I wish I would have paid better attention to the comments and ratings other consumers posted on this forum. However, I like the brand, so I was caught up in the brand and not the reviews...."

Quality versus Brand,December 3, 2009

"I bought these towels for 3 reasons
1. I like the Lacoste style & color choices 2. I like the oversized 72" size that are hard to find in some brands 3. They felt thick and soft (good quality) towels.
I like the towels, but they're no better than a descent generic brand.
A few comments:
1. At first these do not absorb a drop of water. It's uncanny how un-absorbent they are. They actually feel water proof - which is an odd feeling on your skin. Figuring this was just a wax or something from the factory we washed them again. They got a little better, but still were pretty poor. In a last effort, we washed them in hot water and dried them in a hot dryer. Magically they became more absorbent like a typical towel. 2. Perhaps because of what we had to do in the prior comment, after just a few washings the towels began to fade (I bought orange). They didn't fade a ton, but they certainly don't have that new and crisp look that boldly colored towels have. I have generic towels I got as wedding presents 10 years ago that have about the same amount of wear and fade after 10 years that these towels had in a few weeks.
My bottom line, these are nice towels once you break them in but breaking them in makes them look older than they are. They are thicker than many towels, and the size is great. If you like having the colors and trendy alligator, these are great towels. However, don't splurge on these if you think you're getting a higher end towel than others.
If money doesn't matter.. buy them - they're cool. If money is tight, don't justify these thinking they'll be more durable or better than cheaper ones."

"I read many of the reviews on this product but decided to order two bath sheets and give them a shot. I've been looking for the color that would complement all our bathrooms and the silver mink was the only one I could find. I used only one bath sheet at first in case I needed to return the other but there is no need. They are incredibly soft and absorbent. And they wash beautifully with no discoloration. I always wash towels in cold or warm water with ammonia to give the detergent a boost. And it's important not to overcook towels in the dryer. We'll still be using these in 20 years like the present towels!"

"These towels are big and very soft. They dry you off very easily. The have stayed in very good condition after a lot of washes. We needed some yellow towels for our newly painted bathroom and this was the yellow we liked the best. They are a little priceir than other towels but they hold up better so it is worth it."

"I have to admit when my wife suggested we redecorate our bathroom in purple lacoste that I was pretty skeptical. How could a purple bathroom look good at all? It would be so girly that I would throw up every time I walked in. My opinion changed pretty quick when I saw the final results. Lacoste towels look very upscale and high-end. The bathroom looks great, the towels are amazingly soft and absorbent. This was one of the best purchases we have made in a while! I would recommend to anyone and plan to buy more in the very near future."

"These towels fade really really bad. I wanted to purchase more but I am afraid that they will fade. I washed these towels with a pair of my three year old daughter blue jeans and the towels soaked up the blue from the jeans and now they are RUINED. Too much money for towels to get ruined too fast!"

"These towels are excellent quality, modern, and fun. With all the boring towels out there, the Lacoste logo gives these towels that something 'extra'. These are extremely soft, heavy, dry quickly, and come in the trendiest of colors to match every decor. I have returned all my other towels and keep buying these, much to my husband's dismay! :) I have them in nile, ballad blue, and am awaiting the mystic blue. Can't wait!"
