Beautiful, but colors not true to picture,December 29, 2009

"Great, beautiful bowl, excellent craftsmanship. However, the colors are not true to the picture....it appears to be a beautiful orange and light ivory and in reality they were a two shades of brown. The darker was muddy, with no hint of orange, and the lighter shade was just a light brown color. Disappointing colors when compared to the picture.....at first I thought they had sent me the wrong bowl."

"I have purchased several of the Rwandan items and have not been disappointed. As mentioned, the sweetgrass retains a pleasant fragrance and the workmanship is second to none. This year I have decided to give some as Christmas gifts and I know they will be a big hit. I like the fact that in a small way I am helping someone less fortunate. If you buy any of these products, I promise you won't be disappointed."

"the stories behind these make them great to collect, but I fould this to be my favorite. The size is perfect for displaying and it comes with a loop on the back for hanging. It looks great with my other collectibles from around the world. I find it very comforting and the colors are tremendous! I also prefer the larger 16" size over the 12"."

"This bowl is absolutely stunning. I love the pattern, esp. as it spirals out from the center, and the colors are neutral so you can place it anywhere. The bowl is quite large and the craftsmanship is excellent. I would definitely consider giving this bowl as a gift to very special people."

"Oprah talked about these bowls on her show and you could buy them from her website, but I didn't want to use my major credit card to get one. When I received the advertisement from Macy's, I had to order. I'd been looking for over a year for the "right thing" to put in my redecorated bedroom to give it that finished look. I liked the Thousand Suns bowl, but it was too bright. I was unsure about The Thousand Hills bowl when I ordered it as the "house Xmas present", so I held my breathe when it arrived. It is absolutely perfect! I was so excited. Not only is it a beautiful work of art, it is also functional. I put little things in it as not to clutter up my dresser. It's large enough that you can not see the items from a distance. Thank you Macy's for making it so easy for us to help others in need. I'm looking forward to buying one of these bowls for my daughter when she moves in her new apartment."

"I gave this and other Rwandan baskets and bowls as Christmas gifts, but managed to keep one for myself! The bowl is absolutely lovely, larger than I expected and it was an experience just to open the packaging and smell the scent of sweet grasses from far away places. It gave me great pleasure to not only have chosen great presents, but also to support sustainability to women from a war-ravaged country and it is a tribute to these women that their artistry has endured."

"The pattern is lovely and the bowl well made, however the description says that the vivid colors, etc. The bowl I received was a dull brown, not close in color to the picture on the site. "I have fallen in love with the Rwanda baskets as a whole, and this one is no exception. This is a beautiful bowl, deep and well formed. You have to see these baskets to appreciate them. Order one to look at and I'll bet you do not send it back! If you live near a Macy's that carries them, then go see for yourself. They hold their own in any room - I have them in my casual and comfy family room as well as my dining room with modern decor as art objects, and working hard holding "stuff" in my sewing room. I can't say enough good things about them, and the fact that they are made by skilled artists sustaining themselves by their sales is just frosting on the cake."
