Changed a really good thing!

"I am disappointed. I can't remember when I started wearing this makeup- 10+ years. This makeup is not anything like it was before the new colors came out. They discontinued my color in shell and I have been wearing the lightest color and it is not light enough. I joke that I look jaundice but it's not funny. I want to cry! I have been wearing the new color and am saving the older foundation in shell for important dates. The new version gets oilier and oiler the longer I wear it and I have to powder my face all the time. My mom even commented on how the coverage wasn't the same when she saw me. I'm obviously disappointed. It doesn't matter if they do bring back my color, this new version doesn't work for me. It's probably best since they removed the spf and I'd probably just get burned. It is similar to Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind for me. (It has spf!)."

"I recently decided to switch foundations and did quite a bit of research before purchasing Double Wear. I was not disappointed....I wish I had switched years ago! The coverage is wonderful (i have breakout prone skin and need good coverage) and really controls oil. The staying power is fantastic.....I haven't noticed any transfer to my clothing. The best thing about this makeup is that it absolutely does not make my skin breakout (and i have slept in it) and it actually seems to be improving my complexion."

Formula change has ruined my favorite foundation

"I've been wearing this foundation for over 15 years, and was very sad to discover that EL changed the formula. It is now a runny mess, no better than any over the counter drug store foundation. I just wish the sales person at the EL counter had told me about the formula change before I spent my well earned money trying to find a match to my old color, which in hindisght was NOT the issue. Very very disappointed."

"I am 34 and have literally been wearing Estee Lauder double wear foundation for 18 years. I absolutely loved this foundation. Recently Estee Lauder changed the formula for the double wear and the colors are absolutely terrible!!! I have worn Bone and Linen and loved them both. Now the bone color is this terrible orange color and I do not like any other color. I am begging Estee Lauder to please change back to the old formula. This new formula has the worst colors ever!! I am so disappointed. Please bring back the old formula!!!!"

"I first switched to Estee Lauder when I was told that their make-up and concealers are recommended for people who wear contact lenses. So, I started using double wear in SHELL shade. I adored it. I use double-wear because, while there isn't much I need to cover up, I only have to use a small amount to achieve the coverage I want right away, unlike having to build with a lighter coverage foundation.

But then Estee Lauder discontinued Shell. I remember the lady at the counter in Macy's said they did it so "everyone could find a match" in their skin shade. Nonsense. What about the very fair-skinned women like myself?! Cool Bone 1C1 is nice and all but it just doesn't blend nor look as good as my Shell which was so nice and pale. I bought some pinkish/white toned translucent powder from another company to accommodate this problem.

So many companies seem to be doing this. I feel like I'm being punished for being an avid user of sunscreen (i.e. good skin care), and for my genetics."

"I really wanted to love this foundation, and while I did notice that when I applied it my skin looked flawless...but then 10 minutes later I caught my reflection and, wow! It had oxidized and appeared to be about three shades darker than my skin! I even returned it and got a sample of a lighter shade to try, but it still oxidized and ended up with an orangey hue...not flattering."

"I tried this foundation for the first time a few weeks ago. The sales lady helped match my color and home I went to try it out. At first I was not happy at all. The color looked way too dark and it was very cakey when applied. I had also bought the foundation brush to go along with it and even with the brush the make up was thick and cakey. So instead of giving up I tried the beauty blender with this foundation and it gave me the coverage I was looking for with out being cakey. This is a thick med/full coverage foundation and it dries quickly! You have to blend it fast or it will start to dry and look cakey. But when applied with the beauty blender it gave perfect coverage and did not dry as quick. This make up will last at least 8-12 hours with out getting oily ! It does not rub or wear off easy either ! I love it !! If your skin is oily this is the foundation for you!! I suggest using it with the beauty blender to get a flawless finish! :) I am now an Estee Lauder Fan!!!!"

"I have been using double wear for at least 10 years and i still love it!! I have combination skin and it's perfect. Estee Lauder recently added some new colors and changed the name of color catorgories but there is no difference in the fomula or color. The reason the bottle does not have spf 10 on it is due to new goverment regulations not a change to the formula. Double wear still provides a spf of 10 but they are unable to put it on the bottle unless the product has a spf 15 or above. This is the best foundation I have ever used and will continue to use it forever!!"

"I love this foundation i have very oily skin and its acne prone , it does not break me out at all and it really lasts the entire day . I have very light skin with some acne blemishes .I am currently using the shade desert beige but I wish i found a shade a bit lighter. Also It has an interesting smell but i got use to it. "I've never tried any Estee Lauder product until this week and I can't stop staring at myself in the mirror! My foundation ran out, and I knew I wanted to get a new one with coverage so that I could skip concealer altogether and have longer wear. I'd always heard people using double wear for a flawless look, but I had NO idea I'd find my perfect color match as well. 4n2 spiced sand is perfection! No longer do I have to try to perfect foundations that are either too yellow, too orange or too pink; for once, I have product that blends seamlessly and makes my face/neck/chest have the same shade and undertone. Not only can I skip concealer, I don't have to worry about color correcting either. Whoohoo! (for reference, I used to classify myself as an NC42. I medium deep complexion, olive/neutral/true tan undertone, and I've never been able fit been able to fit into the warm or cool bucket without the help of primers/bronzers)"

"I love this foundation. Been using it for years. I did however notice that it no longer contains sunscreen. So if you're looking for foundation that does then you may want to keep looking. Otherwise maybe try an Estee Lauder cream with lotion to put on first. ;-)"

Estee Lauder RUINED the formula!

"Why did they tinker with perfection? This new formula is awful. They took out the SPF and the consistency is different -- the old formula made my skin look luminous, and I got lots of compliments. Now it is nothing more than a very average product, which doesn't cover as well as before, certainly not worth the $. If you have been wearing this product for years, as I have, you will be extremely disappointed with the new formula! I will no longer buy this product, and will look to their competitors for a new perfect foundation."
